iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro were introduced this week by Apple. Last Friday was the start of pre-orders, with initial deliveries scheduled for September 16th. However, the iPhone 14 has already been released to a select few. As a result, we now have the first-ever peek inside an iPhone 14 Pro Max via a deconstruction.
YouTube channel PBKreviews uploaded a disassembly video that provides an in-depth look at the new 14 Pro models. When turned off, the iPhone 14 Pro Max appears very similar to the iPhone 13 Pro Max. But inside, there are a few key distinctions.
What’s Different About the iPhone 14 Pro Max on the Inside?
Most of the new iPhone’s inner workings are visible after removing the screen. The iPhone 13 Pro Max’s component layout is identical to the untrained eye. The enormous L-shaped battery and the logic board are to the left of the new “A16 Bionic” cover.
The new heat-transferring and dissipating logic board cover is a metal plate with graphite pads. During the keynote, Apple said that all iPhone 14 models would feature an improved cooling system to allow them to maintain peak performance for longer.
The internal battery of the iPhone 14 Pro Max has a previously reported capacity of 4,323 mAh. The battery component is slightly smaller than the 4,352 mAh battery found in the iPhone 13 Pro. Apple says the new phones’ improved battery life is the result of the A16 Bionic chip’s refinements, which were made possible by the move to the 4-nanometer manufacturing process.
TrueDepth camera, which incorporates the Face ID sensors with the front-facing camera, is a significant upgrade for this year’s Pro models. The notch on the new iPhone is 30% smaller than the notch on the iPhone 13 Pro because Apple moved the proximity sensor to the underside of the screen.

The deconstruction reveals that the new TrueDepth camera module is far more compact, which is how Apple implemented the technology behind Dynamic Island. Regarding photography, the iPhone 14 Pro Max retains its three-lens rear configuration from its forerunner. In contrast, the bigger 48MP wide lens and significantly larger sensor in this year’s Pro versions are readily apparent when viewed from the device’s interior.

The satellite communication module and the absence of a SIM card reader are two other exciting discoveries from the disassembly (only in models sold in the US). See below for the complete dismantling:
