Netflix’s true crime documentary “Lover, Stalker, Killer” was out on Feb. 9. The documentary follows a love triangle that went deathly wrong. Dave Kroupa was dating two women near Omaha, Nebraska, in 2012: Cari Farver and Liz Golyar.
Even though he insisted to both ladies that he wasn’t interested in a committed relationship, the situation ultimately turned into a strange story involving murder, arson and stalking.

What Happened to Cari Farver?
In 2012, Cari Farver had gotten into a casual relationship with Nebraska-based auto repairman Dave Kroupa. After only a few weeks of dating, the 37-year-old mother of one vanished. When she went missing, a missing report was shared on twitter.

After she went missing is said to have started sending threatening texts to her ex-boyfriend. The texts said that she was ‘watching him’ at all times, that it would be her ‘life’s purpose’ to ‘ruin and destroy’ him and that she would ‘never allow him to be with anyone else’ ever again.
Dave spent years fearing for his life while being harassed online by a person he believed to be Cari. However, investigators shockingly discovered in 2016 that she had not been the one sending the messages.

Who is the Murderer of Cari Farver?
Around the same time that Dave was talking to Cari, the mechanic had met Liz Golyar on a dating site and started a second relationship. Dave had anticipated a laid-back meet, but the arrangement was a grisly torture driven by wrath and jealousy.
Things took a far darker turn in August 2013, amid Cari’s alleged stalking, when Liz claimed to have burnt down her home, murdering her two dogs, cat, and pet snake in the process. Even worse, Liz shockingly claimed in 2015 that Cari had shot her.
However, cops became skeptical when they started looking into this allegation. After Cari was lost, authorities discovered that no one had seen her since 2012. This included members of her own family. Officers ultimately concluded that Liz was involved in Cari’s death after discovering her fingerprints in her vehicle.
After Cari was tragically stabbed, they also found a memory card on her iPad that had a picture of her corpse on it. After a startling four years of impersonating Cari, it was discovered that Liz had been the one sending the abusive texts all along.
Was Cari Farver’s Body Ever Found?
Sadly, Farver’s corpse was never discovered, but according to the prosecution, the murder happened on November 13, 2012, in an apartment in Omaha, Nebraska. Neither a murder weapon nor any witnesses to the heinous crime could be located by the investigators.
The case rested on circumstantial evidence linking Farver and Golyar. They discovered her prints on a gum pack in Farver’s vehicle as well as a horrifying picture of Farver’s decaying foot that Golyar had taken. In the flat, investigators also discovered Farver’s blood but not the body.

Where is Dave Kroupa Now?
Since Golyar’s capture, Kroupa has maintained a low profile and said that he feels some responsibility for Farver’s demise. He explained in Lover, Stalker, Killer:
“I don’t feel blameless in all of this. A lot of bad things happened to good people, all because of a series of events that I’m at the center of, The woman that I dated had goals, and was smiley and wanted to do something. She was just trying to make her way in this world.”
He said:
“I’m very sorry for what happened. If I hadn’t met Cari, she wouldn’t have met Liz and this all wouldn’t have happened. If I’d have known the choice was this craziness or tell Cari I’m not interested, I would’ve told Cari I’m not interested. But you don’t get that choice.”
