What Happened to Damar Hamlin During Football Game?
Damar Hamlin grew up in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. He went to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s Central Catholic High School. He was named the Class AAAA Defensive Player of the Year and to the first team of All-State. The Bills picked him in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
He played college football at the University of Pittsburgh. Hamlin spent most of his first season as a backup. He became a starter in 2022 when Micah Hyde got hurt and had to miss the whole season.
On January 2, 2023, during a Monday Night Football game in Cincinnati, Hamlin had a heart attack after making a stop. He was quickly given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and an automated external defibrillator (AED) before being rushed to a nearby hospital in serious condition.
When Hamlin started to feel better, he was taken to a hospital in Buffalo. Nine days after the accident, he was sent home to continue his recovery. In the end, Hamlin got better and went back to playing competitive football.
