When Did Jay Weinberg leave The Band?
After 10 years with Slipknot, drummer Jay Weinberg is leaving the band. In a post on its website, the Grammy-winning band said that drummer Jay Weinberg would be leaving. The statement read:
“We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years, No one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style or energy, but Jay honored Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band and the fans appreciate it.”
The statement continued:
“Slipknot is intent on evolving, The band has decided to make a creative decision and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.”
The reasons behind Weinberg’s departure were not revealed by the band. The drummer’s “last show of 2023” at Hell & Heaven Metal Fest in Toluca, Mexico, on Friday, November 3, 2023, was mentioned in Weinberg’s most recent Instagram post. Weinberg wrote, “What a year 2023 has been, Great way to cap off an amazing year of memorable shows.”

When did Jay Weinberg Join Slipknot?
In December 2013, Weinberg joined Slipknot and replaced the group’s original drummer Joey Jordison. He has previously shared the stage with acts including Madball, Against Me!, Kvelertak and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band.
He is the son of Max Weinberg, the longtime drummer for Bruce Springsteen. He was a member of the punk rock group “The Reveling” and replaced his father as drummer for the 2009 tour of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. He temporarily served as Madball’s drummer in 2010. Weinberg played with Against Me! in 2011 and 2012.
