Who are the Cast Members in Curb Your Enthusiasm?
Along with a few well-known guest stars, the cast of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” includes Larry David, Richard Lewis, J.B. Smoove, Jeff Garlin, Cheryl Hines and Susie Essman.
For Which Award Did “Curb Your Enthusiasm” Nominate?
The series follows David’s life as a semi-retired television writer and producer in Los Angeles and for one season, New York City. In addition, Susie Essman plays Jeff’s wife Susie, Cheryl Hines plays his wife Cheryl, Jeff Garlin plays his manager and best buddy Jeff Greene and J. B. Smoove plays Leon Black, Larry’s housemate.
It frequently has celebrity guest stars such as Ted Danson, Richard Lewis, Wanda Sykes, Rosie O’Donnell and Jon Hamm, all of whom are portraying fictitious versions of themselves. Similar to David’s co-creation of Seinfeld, the humor in Curb Your Enthusiasm frequently centers on the little details of daily social life.
The plot and subplots of each episode are laid out in an outline that David writes and the performers mostly improvise the dialogue—a process called retroscripting.
Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm, a 1999 one-hour special that David and HBO had first intended to be a one-time effort, served as the inspiration for the television series. Despite not being a documentary, the series was shot in a cinéma vérité-like manner.
Since its premiere, Curb Your Enthusiasm has gained significant critical praise and increased in popularity. For 10 of its eleven seasons, it has been nominated for 47 Primetime Emmy Awards including Outstanding Comedy Series.
