Cook has missed games throughout the last three seasons due to recurring shoulder problems that began in the 2019 season. Cook reportedly underwent surgery in February 2023 to repair the shattered shoulder he sustained.
Adam Schefter shared the news of his surgery on social media and said:
“Vikings’ Pro-Bowl RB Dalvin Cook, who is second in the NFL in total yards since 2019, underwent surgery today to fix the broken shoulder he suffered in that same year, 2019.”

According to NFL Network source Tom Pelissero’s report from April, he was in Minnesota for a post-surgery evaluation on his shoulder. Cook was claimed to be making outstanding progress because his shoulder is now 100% stable and stronger.

Adam Schefter of ESPN said that the veteran running back trained with the team for the first time on August 29. If everything goes well, that means he should be able to play in Week 1.
After signing two weeks ago, Jets RB Dalvin Cook is practicing today for the first time this summer. Cook recently became a first-time father, was spending time with Dalvin Jr., and is now ready to gear up for the Monday night opener vs. the Bills and his younger brother James.
