Is a reunion of one of the best boy bands ever on the horizon with Trolls Band Together? Since the upcoming animated film’s trailer teased a boy band reunion plot for Justin Timberlake’s character, Branch, a source tells us that “JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick are expected to have surprise roles in the third Trolls film, Trolls Band Together, with Justin Timberlake.”
According to the same source, the five members of *NSYNC will get back together to record a new song for the film, their first new music as a group since 2001’s “Girlfriend.”
Branch and his four brothers (Troye Sivan, Kid Cudi, Daveed Diggs, and Eric André) were in a group named BroZone, which may be a reference to Timberlake’s real-life boy band history; this is hinted at in the Trolls Band Together trailer.
When one of the brothers, Floyd (Sivan), is taken captive, John Dory (André) searches for Branch to get the gang back together and rescue Floyd.
Floyd informs his brother, “Branch, we’re out of sync,” in a flashback shown in the teaser, further alluding to the boy band references. As the saying goes, “We’ve gone from boys to men, and now there’s only one direction for us to go: to the back streets.”
On social media, band members have also dropped hints about a prospective reunion. Using the Instagram platform to promote Meow Mix cat chow, Chasez boasts, I think working with the Tabby 5… It made me contemplate other projects by boy bands. The future is always uncertain.

For Timberlake’s performance at the 2013 Video Music Awards, NSYNC briefly reunited, and the group also made an appearance on Ellen in 2018 to honor the group’s new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2019, Ariana Grande performed at Coachella sans Justin Timberlake, although she was accompanied onstage by Bass, Chasez, Fatone, and Kirkpatrick.

Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling” was featured in the first Trolls film and became the best-selling single of 2016 and the winner of the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. The sequel, Trolls: World Tour, likewise had a huge pop score.
Trolls Band Together will likely feature a similar soundtrack to the previous films in the series. Given the film’s emphasis on boy bands and Timberlake’s ongoing involvement in the franchise, a reunion of NSYNC would also not be surprising.
