Does Maggie Rhee, one of the show’s most important characters, make it to the end of the AMC series The Walking Dead? What happened to Maggie in The Walking Dead? Maggie Greene’s importance to The Walking Dead’s narrative arc was not foreseen when she was introduced in season 2. It’s not unprecedented for an important character to be introduced in a later season, but as we’d learned from The Walking Dead, nobody was safe and most characters didn’t last long.
Does Maggie Die in The Walking Dead Season 11?
Fans of Maggie won’t have to worry about losing their favourite character because she survives the entirety of the series. When Lauren Cohan quit the show in the middle of season 9, Maggie was written out of the show as she sought other settlements like Hilltop. However, she returned after season 10 to aid her companions in their fight against The Whisperers, and she continued to be a regular cast member throughout the show’s final season.
Maggie also makes it through the conflict with the Commonwealth, though she eventually forms an uneasy alliance with Negan, the man responsible for killing her beloved Glenn. In the series finale, she admits that he has changed but also says she can’t forgive him for what he did. Both characters will play prominent roles in the upcoming The Walking Dead spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City, bringing that dynamic to New York City.

Why Did Maggie Leave in Season 9 of The Walking Dead?
Maggie, played by Lauren Cohan, left The Walking Dead in Season 9, but she came back for the Season 10 finale. Why did Cohan quit the show and then return? During season 9, Maggie was one of two major cast members to leave (the other being Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln). Even though Rick wasn’t killed off, he never returned after the series’ conclusion outside of the credits. That final scene on the original series was really a setup for his appearance in a Walking Dead spinoff show alongside Michonne.
Because Rick also left the show that season, and in the very same episode, Maggie’s departure was underplayed. Even though she made it, the character was barely addressed while she was gone. The Whisperers did a good job of keeping the survivors preoccupied, though.
Is Maggie Alive or Not?
While this episode proves Maggie is still alive, it also shows that she has left Jesus in charge of Hilltop. To this day, Jesus still does his tasks reluctantly; he won’t even move into Maggie’s old office. “I know you think you’re just keeping a promise to Maggie,” Tara explains to him in this episode, “but you took this job. Don’t act like this is temporary any longer. You’re here, and she’s not.
Accompanied by Hershel, Maggie is revealed to have fled during this episode to establish a “new community” with the shadowy Georgie. It has been theorized that Georgie represents Pamela Milton, the relatively new ruler of a large, rich town known as The Commonwealth, in the program’s comic.
