Paramore has called off the rest of its “This Is Why” tour dates in North America. Hayley Williams, the band’s lead singer, announced via social media that it was disbanding after their August 9 performance in Seattle because Williams had contracted a lung ailment.
The two affected performances are in Portland on August 10 and Salt Lake City on August 13, which were supposed to wrap up the tour that began in May. Several other performances in late July had to be rescheduled, including trips to Seattle and Portland and an earlier version in San Francisco.
In a statement shared on Paramore’s social media, Williams said:
“After my lung infection forced us to postpone four shows, I was hoping a week off of performing and a strict medicine routine would allow my body to heal enough to finish off this tour strong,”
“I have been doing everything I can to fight this infection so we wouldn’t have to disappoint anyone with more news of postponements and cancellations. After struggling through the last few shows and consulting with my doctor, we’re unfortunately realizing that it’s past the point of wanting to push through to put on a good show for all of you.”

Willaims stated that she might cause “long-term damage” to herself and was now dedicated to caring for her health. “We are so sorry to all of you who were so patient with us as we rescheduled these and likely rearranged travel plans to come out still,” she wrote. “I literally can’t take it any longer. I’m sorry to be the bearer of evil tidings. We appreciate your unwavering loyalty so much. Tickets purchased for the postponed dates will be refunded automatically.

Williams posted on her personal Instagram stories after the Seattle show before stating Paramore’s official accounts. She spoke more frankly about the problem, explaining that her “lungs are just not healing quickly enough to keep up” and adding, “It got a little scary tonight.”
“I know some of you are camping in Portland already, so I just wanted to get this out there,” she concluded. I’m sorry this has caused so much confusion for some people. I did my hardest to give this the boot. Paramore’s “This Is Why” tour has already included more than 30 performances, and it will continue with a few overseas events later this fall.
