Baumbach has a boy named Rohmer who is 13 years old. Rohmer is from his first marriage. During the conversation about Gerwig’s personal and professional life and her highly anticipated live-action Barbie movie, the director talks about her new baby as a way to think about where she is in life. In the interview, Gerwig is said to have taken a break to pump breast milk, and she shows a picture of her youngest kid at his or her four-month checkup.

“He’s just a small Schmoo. “I don’t know if a picture can show energy, but that’s his energy,” she said. “The little guy sleeps all night long. But I still do that thing where I wake up every hour to an hour and a half and just float. You just want to look at that baby over and over again.
So I’m kind of in a state of dusk.” In the conversation, Gerwig and Baumbach talk about the birth of their second son for the first time. The writer and director of Lady Bird, nominated for an Oscar, told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show in December 2022 that she was pregnant for the second time.
