After a year-long struggle with cancer, assistant fire chief Bruce A. Nethercutt of Goshen pἀssed away at home on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. He was born in Goshen on October 8, 1969. He married Deborah Potter in Mishawaka on October 17, 1998.
He also has his mother, Kay (Holdread) Nethercutt, his brother, Wayne (Julie) Nethercutt and their three children, Brendon (Jillian) Dubberly in Fort Wayne, Jenna Nethercutt in Indianapolis and Sydney Nethercutt. His sister Lisa Kyle and father, Eugene Nethercutt, predeceἀsed him.
Bruce earned his diplomas from Manchester College in 1993 and Northridge High School in 1988. Bruce worked for the Goshen Fire Department for 26 years, the last several of which he spent in the position of EMS Chief.
Bruce was a devout man who attended River Oaks Community Church and was well-known for his altruistic dedication to the neighborhood. His family, coworkers and the Ivy Tech students he instructed and supervised in their firefighter, paramedic and EMT programs carry on his legacy of service, honesty and kindness.
Sources said, Visitation will take place at River Oaks Community Church on Sunday, May 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. Friends may visit the family on Monday, May 8, 2023, from 2:00 PM until the church’s funeral service at 3:30 PM. The celebrant will be Pastor Scott Tilley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Center for Hospice Care or the Firefighters Cancer Support Network.
