Anna Johnson Stanley beloved mom of Andy Stanley and Becky Stanley Brodersen dἰed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at home. She was 83 years old at the time of deἀth. On October 9, 1931, in Smithfield, North Carolina, Anna Margaret Johnson entered the world.
After graduating with a degree in art from Richmond Professional Institute in Virginia, Anna worked as an art teacher at Miami’s George Mueller Christian School. She served in North Carolina, Ohio, Florida and Georgia with her husband, Dr. Charles F. Stanley.
Anna was a talented pianist and Bible teacher. She was active in the church until health problems made it impossible for her to continue.
Her three sisters, Elizabeth Sawrey, Dorothy Hulett and Janine Jannicelli and her son Andy and his wife Sandra, as well as six grandchildren, Andrew, Garrett, Allie, Jonathan, Annie and Matthew and one great-grandson, William are among those who will miss her greatly.
North Point Community Church, 4350 North Point Parkway, Alpharetta, Georgia had a memorial ceremony on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at 7:00 pm. Anna was a skilled pianist and a respected Bible instructor. She remained involved in many forms of religious service.
After marrying Charles Stanley, Anna Stanley became a household name. Her husband was the senior pastor of the First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. They had a difficult marriage and eventually dἰvorced in 2000. After more than 40 years of marriage, the couple’s divorce made headlines when it was formalized in 2000.
In Southern Baptist communities where biblical principles strongly prohibited divorce, the news of their split was not warmly received. They sought help from professionals such as marriage counselors and doctors but nothing helped them reconcile.
Reports said, Anna Stanley, who was 83 years old pἀssed away in November 2014 from mysterious causes. She and Charles barely spoke to one another after their marriage ended. No one knows what led to his untimely demἰse.
