Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Real Madrid is currently negotiating the terms of Jude Bellingham’s contract and that their excellent working relationship with Borussia Dortmund is actually a major consideration.
It won’t be simple for Madrid to sign Bellingham, nor will it be for any other team hoping to compete.
It is believed that the suitor will need to spend at least €150 million to sign him in the summer because he does not have a release clause in his current contract, which extends until 2025. There will also be significant commissions and exorbitant pay on top of it.
Following Liverpool’s decision to withdraw from the competition, Real Madrid and Manchester City are the only current options. The price was the real factor in Jurgen Klopp’s team’s decision to give up the chase.
The Premier League team’s management accepted that instead of spending €150 million on only one player, it is possible to sign several players with that kind of money.
And now, speaking on his Here We Go podcast, Romano stated that while Real Madrid has an advantage over City due to their relationship with the club, this is the only reason why City is still in the running.

“If a club is able to sign Bellingham in the summer, it is expected that they would pay at least the full $150 million, plus add-ons. A five- or six-year contract will also include a significant salary and large commissions.
“Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have a great working connection, which plays a role in the plot. However, we also understand how crucial the player’s choice will be, which is why Manchester City is still in contention.
Romano stated that talks between Madrid and the player have already begun, and an agreement is now being negotiated.
“Real Madrid has consistently been involved [in the competition to sign Bellingham]. They have connections and are currently negotiating the deal. They are conversing and they definitely want Bellingham.

The writer also asserted that Bellingham has admirers inside Manchester United, but that it is difficult for them to stay in the running given the circumstances at the club right now.
Dortmund wants him to stay for another year, so they are not going to give up on him quickly.
“For Manchester United, there were rumours early on but the problem is the club’s sale. Everything depends on how long it will take and how much United will invest. It’s not easy for them to stay in the race,” said Romano.
“Keep an eye on Dortmund until the end because they are still trying to tie him up in a new deal, at least for one more season with a release clause. This could be one option but it’s upto the player and his father at the end,” he added.
