Many individuals who were fans of Pedro Gomez on TV were saddened to learn of his passing and some even speculated about the circumstances of his death. Sudden cardiac arrest, the medical term for a heart attack, took the life of Pedro Gomez.
The San Francisco Bay Area has a special place in its hearts for sports reporter Pedro Gomez. Throughout the 1980s, Gomez cut his teeth as a journalist for the Miami News before relocating to cover sports in San Diego. Starting in 1992, Gomez wrote about the Oakland Athletics for many newspapers in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento.
He contributed to the local San Jose Mercury News. When I first joined the Athletics, it was a thrilling time. Gomez spent nearly a decade as a sports journalist, during which time he wrote about athletes like Rickey Henderson and Mark McGwire. He covered a wide variety of sports, including soccer, and even traveled to Cuba to report on a match.
What is Pedro Gomez’s Cause of Death?
When Gonez died at the young age of 58, his career as a writer and his role as a father abruptly ended. The Mercury News, where Gomez worked most of his career, reported that Gomez died in his Phoenix home of a sudden heart arrest on February 7, 2021.
Doctors determined that Pedro Gomez died of sudden cardiac arrest, more often known as a heart attack among the general public. After his passing, many of his coworkers shared stories of how Gomez had changed their lives or the San Francisco community. The community will be poorer without his leadership.
