David Jude Jolicoeur was an American rapper, producer and member of the hip-hop group De La Soul. He was better known by his stage names Trugoy the Dove, Plug 2, and Dave. The death of Trugoy the Dove, one-third of the seminal hip-hop group De La Soul has been widely mourned.
Variety and Pitchfork reported the death of the Grammy-winning De La Soul. According to the reports of People, no cause of death has been disclosed. Fellow rapper Erick Sermon broke the news of Trugoy’s death on Saturday on Instagram posting a brief tribute alongside a vintage photo of the late rapper strolling barefoot on a beach.

After meeting Kelvin Mercer (aka Posdnuos) and Vincent Lamont Mason Jr. (aka Maseo) in high school on Long Island, Brooklyn native Jolicoeur founded De La Soul in 1988 and the following year released their debut album 3 Feet High and Rising.
In the music video for “Royalty Capes” from De La Soul’s ninth and most recent studio album And the Anonymous Nobody. Trugoy said,
I can’t wait to get back on stage. Those times are gone forever in my mind. Both adventure and hanging out with my bros rank high on my list of favorite things to do in life. And I need it returned to me.
