An offensive lineman for the Florida Gators has died unexpectedly. he passed on Thursday at a Gainesville student apartment complex. The death of offensive lineman and walk-on player Kaleb Boateng is being remembered online. In 2021, after transferring from Clemson, Boateng played for Florida.
It’s hard to find the words in a moment like this. This is a phone call you never want to receive as a parent or as a coach – especially about a former player. Although our time was short together, Kaleb was a Gator. He was a beloved friend, son and teammate.

TV20 reports that Boateng was found dead on Thursday night in his unit at the Varsity House complex. The death was ruled a suicide by the Gainesville Police Department.

After news of Boateng’s death spread, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney released the following statement:
“We are deeply saddened to hear the news of Kaleb’s passing,” stated Swinney. “This is a very tragic and sad situation. Our prayers are with his family. While he was only here a couple of years before moving on, we remember Kaleb as being a good teammate and always having a good spirit to him. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and all of those who were blessed to know him.”
