On Thursday, police discovered the bodies of a married couple and their 12-year-old son in their grand Massachusetts house. The deaths appeared to be the result of a murder-suicide committed by the father, authorities said.
After receiving a 911 call at 3:31 a.m. from inside their Andover home, police discovered the bodies of Andrew Robinson, Linda Robinson, and their son Sebastian Robinson, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.
Responding officers forced entry into the house by breaking through two doors, where they found the deaths of the man (aged 56), the woman (aged 55), and the man’s son (aged 18), all of whom had been shot multiple times, according to prosecutors.
“The incident appears to be a tragic case of domestic violence and murder-suicide,” the DA’s office stated.
Prosecutors say Andrew Robinson shot himself in the head and killed himself. On Thursday afternoon, District Attorney Paul Tucker held a press conference in which he emphasized that the public is safe and that the incident was contained to the $2 million Porter Street residence. “Obviously, we know the how; we’re trying to figure out the why right now, so we’re going to need some time to figure that out,” Andover Police Chief Patrick Keefe said.

Headmaster Edward Hardiman at St. John’s Prep in Danvers confirmed that Sebastian, the son of Linda and Andrew, attended the school. The youngster, he said, has a “really gentle nature” and is “extraordinarily creative.”
“Sebastian was a wonderful young man,” Hardiman said during a press conference. “He had a kind and gentle presence and was well-loved by his teachers.”
According to Hardiman, Sebastian started sixth grade at the all-boys prep school in September and plays the cello there.
“As I’ve talked with his teachers this morning, the description they’ve continually offered is he was a very gentle soul who felt very grateful to be a part of the Prep community, had a tremendous friend group and was very connected to our music program, to our campus ministry program, and just someone who was very well-loved as a gentle soul,” Hardiman said.
The school day was canceled and counselors were made available to students who needed to talk about their feelings.
