On Sunday morning, a shooting occurred in a Falcon neighborhood, sending one person to the hospital and four others into immediate danger. According to a press release from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the crime scene spans over a city block in the Meridian Ranch neighborhood.
The EPCSO also suggested this was likely not a random occurrence. No suspects have been apprehended, but police believe the shooting may be linked to a carjacking that occurred on Saturday in Colorado Springs’s east side. Specifically, west of Mitchell High School, on Potter Drive, which connects two apartment communities. There were no further specifics about the carjacking given.
The town of Falcon may be found about four miles northeast of Colorado Springs. According to the EPCSO press release, calls to the 9-1-1 dispatch center in El Paso County started flooding in at 12:50 a.m. Multiple callers mentioned hearing gunfire. ( as per we got information from CBS News.com)
A shelter-in-place order was issued by the sheriff’s department, advising people to avoid opening any doors or windows until the investigation was complete. Before 4:30 a.m., the directive was rescinded.
