Andor Ending Explained

Andor Ending Explained: This week the season finale of Andor ended with a lot of death and destruction on the streets of Ferrix. When Maarva’s last message to her people causes a riot, the Empire opens fire on the town. This is a terrible thing to do, and as more people rise up against the fascist government, it will be heard all over the galaxy.

During the chaos, Cassian breaks into the Imperial command center on Ferrix and saves Bix. He then makes sure that all of his loved ones get off the planet safely. But he chooses to stay where he is. Fans of Star Wars already know that Cassian’s fate lies somewhere else.

Here’s what Cassian’s choices at the end of the first season mean for the second season and beyond…

Andor Ending Explained: An Overview of all Season

Star Wars Andor

Why did Cassian make the choice he did?

We knew this Andor moment would come at some point: at the end of the episode, Cassian decides he’s had enough of running. At the beginning of the series, Cassian is all about himself. He is a thief who is happy to steal from the Empire but not willing to fight them head-on. He doesn’t care about uprisings or being part of something bigger. Cassian has no interest in what the oppressive Imperial forces are doing in other parts of the galaxy.

All of that changes when he is unfairly locked up on Narkina 5, where people are forced to work until they die for the Empire. Cassian and Melshi make a deal to tell the rest of the galaxy what the Empire is really doing to its people. This is after he and the other prisoners come up with a plan to escape and get back to Niamos. It’s clear that Cassian is ready to fight and bring down the Empire.

Why did Cassian make the choice he did

But first, he has to take a detour to Ferrix to say goodbye to his late adoptive mother Maarva and save Bix from the ISB. All of this leads to Cassian and Luthen’s final showdown on the Fondor. Cassian figures out from the fact that there are more Rebels on Ferrix that Luthen planned to kill him to keep the Rebellion’s secrets safe (after the Aldhani heist, Cassian ditched Vel, making him a loose end Luthen needed to take care of). But Cassian says there’s another way: Luthen should take him in and make him one of his agents.

Fans of Rogue One know that Cassian’s decision to join the Rebellion is meant to set him up for his later role in the movie. When we first met Cassian in 2016, he was already a high-ranking Rebel spy and a skilled assassin. The leaders of the Rebel Alliance trusted him to kill Galen Erso, the main scientist behind the Death Star. Cassian’s first step toward that future and toward his death on Scarif at the end of Rogue One is to join Luthen.

This is the Death Star

When it comes to the Death Star, a surprise scene after the credits shows that the Imperial’s superweapon is well on its way to being built. We watch as little droids put together pieces of the space station from the parts that Cassian and the other Narkina prisoners were making.

We know that the Death Star will be a big part of the last act of Cassian’s Star Wars story, so this is a hint at what’s to come. In the future, he will be one of the brave heroes who gives up his own life to steal the plans for the Death Star for the Rebellion. What this Andor scene after the credits shows about the ending is that Cassian was forced to help make the weapon that will kill him without knowing it. It would be funny to Palpatine.

This is the Death Star

But were Death Star hints more than just a bit of dramatic irony? If the space station shows up on the show, it’s possible that season 2 of Andor will go into more detail about how it was made. Is ISB agent Dedra Meero supposed to help keep the Death Star a secret? Will we get a Mads Mikkelsen cameo via Galen Erso? Can Disney+ pay for CGI Peter Cushing?

Andor wants you to know that, yes, the Death Star is out there, and that the show is closer than ever before to Rogue One and A New Hope.

Where is the sister of Cassian?

Where is the sister of Cassian

Cassian seemed to be driven by more than just stealing from the Empire for the credits. He was looking for his long-lost sister Kerri (Belle Swarc). This search for his sister is what gets him into trouble on Morlana One, which puts him right in Luthen Rael’s hands. But even though where his sister is at the start of the season is a big mystery, the show doesn’t come back to it after the first arc.

One could easily argue that Cassian didn’t have time to keep looking for Kerri after getting chased off Ferrix, stealing from Aldhani, and going to jail. He probably won’t have as much time to find her now that he’s joined the Rebellion. Does the fact that Maarva told Cassian earlier in the season that there were no other survivors from whatever happened to Kenari mean that Cassian has given up the search?

One of the most popular ideas about who Cassian’s sister might be is that the mysterious Kleya Marki (Elizabeth Dulau) is actually a grown-up Kerri. You’d have to assume that Kleya didn’t look into Cassian before she sent Vel to kill him. Which doesn’t seem likely for Luthen’s right hand. We’ll have to wait and see if season 2 gives us better answers.

What do We know About “Andor” Season 2?

We do know for sure that there will be a second season of Andor. In fact, it’s being shot in the UK as you read this and reports say that the main filming should be done by August of next year. This makes me hope that we’ll get to see more of Cassian Andor’s adventures sometime in 2024.

What We Know About Season Two of Andor

Yes, it has been a long time since the first part of this two-part story. Tony Gilroy, who is in charge of the show, has given fans some information about what to expect when the show comes back. For one thing, he’s already told us when in the Star Wars timeline the second season takes place and how long it will last. While Andor season 1 starts five years before Rogue One and covers one year in Cassian’s life, the second season will cover the next four years, right up until the events of Rogue One.

“We’ll do three episodes and skip a year. And then we’ll do three more episodes and skip ahead a year. “We’ll go back to the last four episodes, which will be the last three days before Rogue One,” Gilroy. “The last scene of the show will lead you into Rogue One.”

Gilroy told Collider that the first episode of season 2 will take place “a year after what you just saw.” In the time since then, a lot has happened.” This means that Cassian will probably be in a slightly different place than where we left him at the end of season 1. The showrunner told Collider, “I think that’s one of the responsibilities of Part 2.” That means we’ll finally get to see how Cassian met his trusted ex-Imperial interrogation droid K-2SO (Alan Tudyk). We have to deal with that, of course, if we’re going to walk into Rogue.”

Since the second season has to connect more directly to Rogue One, fans can expect to see how the Rebel Alliance came to be and how they set up their secret base on Yavin IV. In season 1, all the Rebel cells in the galaxy are still working on their own. In fact, Gilroy has already said that we’ll see the fourth moon of Yavin in some way next season.

For season 2 of Andor, a new group of directors and writers will be added to the team. The second set of 12 episodes will be directed by Ariel Kleiman (Yellowjackets), Janus Metz (True Detective) and Alonso Ruizpalacios (Museo). Kleiman will be in charge of six episodes, while Metz and Ruizpalacios will each be in charge of three. Tom Bissell joins Tony and Dan Gilroy and Beau Willimon in the writers’ room (The Vanishing of Ethan Carter).

Gilroy’s Rebel Alliance is all set and has already started filming, so the showrunner knows exactly where Andor will go next.

Gilroy told that the first half of the movie was about him becoming a revolutionary and committing to it, sort of like making a blood oath. “There’s no doubt that Cassian cares about the cause. If the first part was about him becoming a rebel, the second part is about him becoming a leader.”
