It was always intended for the program to run for two seasons with the second one serving as a prequel to Rogue One A Star Wars Story. Where Luna’s Cassian Andor character was first introduced to audiences. There would be a total of 24 episodes in the series.

When asked about the length of the first season during August, Gilroy said that it would span one year and be broken up into 12 episodes. Each block of three episodes in the second season would signify another year closer to the conclusion of the story.

Adding that the first 12 episodes really get to take the formative forging of Cassian Andor, he said. Then we get to take that organism that we’ve grown up with and run it through the next four years in a really fascinating narrative fashion.

Episode 24 will guide the audience immediately into the first moments of Rogue One as director Tony Gilroy teased at the end of the season. Andor delves into a fresh angle on the Star Wars universe, following Cassian Andor as he sets out to make his mark.

This series tells the story of how several worlds and people were involved in the growing revolt against the Empire. Cassian starts on the path that will make him a rebel hero in an era fraught with peril, deceit and intrigue.

What Andor’s Andy Serkis Reveals About His Character’s Backstory?

Andy Serkis well-known to fans of the Star Wars sequel trilogy got to invent a very different type of part in Tony Gilroy’s critically praised series Andor. When Cassian Andor Diego Luna is sent to Narkina 5 to work at an Imperial factory, the audience is introduced to Serkis’s Kino Loy in Episode 8.

Even though we don’t know much about Kino as of yet, the narrative establishes in Episode 9 that he has been working at the factory long enough to be promoted to the position of foreman of Unit 5-2-D and that with only about 250 days left on his sentence. He isn’t looking for anyone to cause trouble that might jeopardize his chance at freedom.

In an interview with Steve Weintraub, Andy Serkis disclosed that he created his own backstory for Kino Loy. Serkis’s explanation provides additional insight into who Kino Loy may have been before he was arrested by the Empire and reframes his relationships with the other captives.

Kino was considered a problem by Serkis, but before his imprisonment, he was seen by Serkis as a shop steward who battled for workers’ rights. This nugget of knowledge significantly alters the series’ depiction of the character, who up until now has seemed emotionally distant from the inmates he has been tasked with supervising.

Serkis continued by explaining this discrepancy saying, While Serkis’ backstory for Kino may differ from what the show’s writers have planned for the character, it is still exciting to learn what motivations were layered into his phenomenal performances in Episodes 8 and 9.

Assuming Kino even makes it off of Narkina 5. Kino as he stated has a rough exterior, but every once in a while you get a peek at the person who lies behind him. The possibility of who Kino was before he was imprisoned adds so much to what we’ve seen of this man so far and Serkis has this great ability for his words to convey one thing while his eyes show the truth of it all.
