Young Sheldon followers are not afraid of losing the program since CBS extended the series for three seasons in March 2021.
That shows there is something to anticipate until at least 2024. Season five, which is now running on CBS, begins with a time leap that places Sheldon in his sophomore year of college.
“Young Sheldon leads the broadcast comic landscape by over +2.5 million viewers and is the lynchpin of CBS’ top-rated Thursday comedy program,” said Kelly Kahl, president of CBS entertainment.
The Cooper family’s comedy, sincerity, and heart are an undeniable draw for the millions of viewers each week.”
The program has drawn to life events and personalities referenced in The Big Bang Theory as fans witness Sheldon grow up in Texas and better understand his character.
Recent seasons have focused on Sheldon’s home life, shedding light on his parents’ marriage, his connection with his twin sister (Missy), and his academic success.
As season five continues, fans are eagerly anticipating an action-packed sixth season. If you’re unable to wait, here’s all you need to know about Young Sheldon’s sixth season.

Who will appear in Young Sheldon season 6?
Unsurprisingly, Iain Armitage will return to the character of Sheldon in the upcoming film. He will be accompanied by his television family, which includes Mary Cooper (Zoe Perry), George Cooper (Montana Jordan), Missy Cooper (Raegan Revord), and Meemaw Cooper (Raegan Revord), among others (Annie Potts).
In the television series The Big Bang Theory, George Sr. (Sheldon’s father) passes away when Sheldon is fourteen years old. Assuming, however, that the show continues on a yearly schedule, we should see Lance Barber reprise his role in season six.
Wyatt McClure would likely reprise his role as Billy Sparks, Sheldon’s next-door neighbor, and tormentor, after being elevated to the series’ main cast in season 5.
Finally, Jim Parsons will feature as a voiceover in the production. The Big Bang Theory’s Howard Wolowitz, played by Simon Helberg, made a brief guest appearance in an episode during season five, resulting in a great deal of excitement. Another guest star is a possibility for season six, according to sources.
What will happen in Young Sheldon season 6?
Sheldon is 12 years old and in his second semester of college in Season 5. Sheldon should turn 13 and start his sophomore year in season six if the chronology holds.
“We’re anxious to see what the next three seasons have in store for a bit older Sheldon and the entire Cooper family,” Kahl said. There should be more family turmoil, more difficult choices, and more Easter eggs referencing Sheldon’s recollections from The Big Bang Theory sprinkled throughout the narrative.
When will the Young Sheldon season 6 trailer be available?
CBS has not yet published a teaser for season six, but if prior seasons are any indication, we should expect one around August 2022. Young Sheldon premieres on Thursdays on CBS.
