Following Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ spectacular theatrical release last year, new concept art for Marvel Studios’ first Asian-led superhero picture has surfaced online, allegedly suggesting that a Deadpool appearance was originally planned for the film.
It was drawn by artist Andrew Kim, who shared it on his now-defunct website. It is unknown if this results from the spreading of artwork or a technological issue.
Shang-Chi concept image depicts a combat pit in Xialing’s Golden Daggers Club, an underground fight club comprised of talented and superpowered warriors. The artwork depicts the fan-favorite anti-hero battling Marvel villain Proxima Midnight.
If Marvel had gone with the canceled cameos rather than the Wong and Abomination battle, the Simu Liu-led picture would have been Deadpool’s first formal entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Destin Daniel Cretton co-wrote and directed the picture, and he will return to helm the previously confirmed sequel as part of his new arrangement with Marvel Studios. Critics and fans alike lauded the 2021 picture, complimenting Liu’s starring performance as well as its action sequences. It grossed over $430 million globally at the box office.
Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin (Bob’s Burgers) are presently writing Deadpool 3 and are collaborating closely with Ryan Reynolds on the script’s narrative.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had guaranteed fans that it would remain an R-rated film, similar to the studio’s first two films, making it the studio’s first film to have the adult classification.
Reynolds indicated in a recent interview that he will share further details and “a handful of updates” regarding the long-awaited threequel “sooner rather than later.”
