This week, Nintendo gave us our best peek at the upcoming Super Mario Bros. film, just days before the first teaser was released. This artwork served as a sneak peek before the big unveiling, and it included Mario and a slew of Toad figures, among others. Additionally, Nintendo confirmed that a special Nintendo Direct would be held on October 6 to coincide with the trailer’s debut at New York Comic-Con.
The relevant artwork can be viewed down below, courtesy of a tweet from Nintendo announcing the upcoming Mario film. There’s a shot of Mario staring out toward Princess Peach’s castle in the distance, which is perched on a mountain above a village inhabited by Toads and other creatures from the Mushroom Kingdom. The rest of the incredibly busy trailer for the Mario film is filled with pipes, floating land masses and constructions, and other recognizable Mario elements.

It’s worth noting that Nintendo’s advertised time for the Nintendo Direct here is five minutes later than the time of 1 p.m. PT that the New York Comic-Con accounts reported recently. Even though Nintendo recommends tuning in at 1:05 p.m., you should probably start watching at 1:01 p.m.
Tune in at 1:05 p.m. PT on 10/6 for a #NintendoDirect: The Super Mario Bros. Movie presentation introducing the world premiere trailer for the upcoming film (no game information will be featured).

The official release date of the Mario movie trailer is October 6th, so that will be the first time we hear Chris Pratt’s interpretation of Mario’s voice. People have been curious to hear what Pratt would sound like as Mario ever since the casting news broke, and especially after it was revealed that he wouldn’t be doing an Italian accent.
We know that during this Direct, no game-related information will be revealed, but we’ll be interested to see whatever is shown off in relation to the film. Since these Nintendo Direct events are often restricted to games and games alone, it’s not surprising that Nintendo took sure to emphasize that point multiple times in its announcement.
