‘The Promised Neverland‘ got off to a fantastic start and was one of the most promising animes of its first season.
The anime is based on the Japanese manga series of the same name by Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu. The story of orphan children who attempt to flee their orphanage after discovering that they have been reared solely to serve as food for the demons.
The first season premiered in Japan in January 2019 and was promptly renewed for a second season in March of that year, owing to the show’s success.
Season two began on January 8, 2021, and ended on March 26, 2021. Unfortunately, season 2 has fallen short of the anticipation and expectations generated by the previous season.
Others hope to see ‘The Promised Neverland’ return for a third season despite disappointing many anime fans. Is their wish going to come true? Let us investigate.
Is Season 3 of ‘The Promised Neverland’ Confirmed?
Not yet, or perhaps not at all. Consider the terrible destiny of ‘The Promised Neverland‘ season 2, which finished in March 2021. The anime’s future may potentially be in jeopardy due to the overwhelmingly poor response to season 2’s narrative.
Season one succeeded admirably and was well-received by fans. It presently has a MyAnimeList rating of 8.57/10 and an IMDB rating of 8.4/10. However, the second season’s ratings suffered a considerable decline due to the response. Season 2 has been downgraded to a 5.43 rating on MyAnimeList.
Hellyer described season 2 as a “butchered adaptation,” noting that it “completely disregards the fantastic tone and atmosphere that were so painstakingly constructed in the first season and hurried a once-engaging plot to high hell to create a sloppy mess.”
Despite this, fans continue to plead with CloverWorks to develop a third anime season.
However, given the overwhelmingly negative response to the last season, the studio may want to devote their time and efforts to their new project, ‘Fate/Grand Order – Grand Temple of Time: Solomon.’

What Are The Odds That ‘The Promised Neverland’ Will Be Renewed For A Third Season?
The prospects appear to be rather minimal at the moment. Apart from the negative criticism, the studio may be preoccupied with a new endeavor. It’s also worth mentioning that the second season has already concluded the manga’s storyline, albeit quite abruptly.
There may have been sufficient source material to sustain production for one further season. Season 2, on the other hand, hurried the storyline. The finale concluded the plot by utilizing still photographs from previous arcs.
This is a terrible, feeble, and self-indulgent attempt to wrap up an anime with so much potential. ‘The Promised Neverland’ deserved so much more.
However, it appears as though there is no way to rehabilitate the anime at this point since season 3 of ‘The Promised Neverland is improbable. Rather than a third season, we’re more likely to see a spinoff or reboot.
