He also indicated that he had taken many measures to stop drinking and get sober. After Ryan stopped drinking, he made a concerted effort to get his life back on track after he had strayed so much in recent years. He wrote:
“With a heavy heart, I am in the final stages of a divorce. I realize that my standing in this community puts me in the position that I have to share this publicly with those of you who follow what we’re doing here.”
“I could take this time to share with you all the lessons I’ve learned over the past 8 months but I’m too close to the situation to offer anything meaningful to you right now. I love my ex-wife. Both her and I are committed to being good to each other and raise our children the best that we can. I still believe in marriage and in the power of family.”
