When Did Andy Allo Perform For the First Time?
Allo performed solo for the first time in 2008 at an open mic night at the Fox & Goose Public House in Sacramento’s downtown. Her debut independent album, UnFresh, a compilation of twelve original songs was published in 2009.
Due to her musical fame, Allo was hired in 2011 to play guitar and vocals for American musician Prince’s band, the New Power Generation. While on tour, she started writing songs with Prince and the three tracks that ended up on Allo’s album Superconductor are “Superconductor,” “The Calm” and “Long Gone”.
Additionally, she contributed background vocals to the song “Breakdown” and co-lead vocals to the songs “What It Feels Like” and “Time” from Prince’s 2014 album Art Official Age. In 2015, she made another appearance on a Prince album when he included “Rocknroll Loveaffair” to Hit n Run Phase Two.
The album also featured “Xtralovable” which was published in 2011 and featured a rap verse by Allo, but this version added a horn section instead. She released her single “Tongue Tied” in October 2014.
In 2011, Allo made her television debut in three episodes of the comedy-drama The Game. She has also appeared on other talk shows. She co-starred with Ruby Rose as Serenity, an Evermoist band member in the 2017 movie Pitch Perfect.
She has been starring in the Amazon Prime TV series Upload since 2020 as Nora, the principal female character. Allo had a cameo appearance in Star Wars: The Bad Batch in March 2023 as Lyanna Hazard, the niece of Phee Genoa and the daughter of Shep Hazard.
