What is Atsushi Sakurai’s Cause of Death?
Unfortunately, Sakurai passed away after suffering a brainstorm hemorrhage. Before he died suddenly Buck-Tick had just canceled a show for that same day.
That night, the band was supposed to play a fan club show, but it was canceled as soon as it was known that Sakurai was sick. The singer was taken to the hospital right away, but he died soon after getting there. A private funeral was held for Sakurai by his loved ones.

At What Age Did Atsushi Sakurai Die?
Atsushi Sakurai was born on March 7, 1966 and passed away on October 19, 2023 at the age of 57. At first, Sakurai played drums for Buck-Tick. The group went to Tokyo after high school leaving Sakurai as the only one left in Gunma Prefecture.
Then he asked Toll Yagami if he could be the lead singer for his band SP, but Yagami said no. In a strange turn of events, he became the lead singer for Buck-Tick after the band fired Araki and Toll became their drummer.
When their single “Just One More Kiss” hit number six on the Oricon Singles Chart in 1988, it was a big deal. Their fourth studio record, Taboo went to number one that year and that was also the first time they played at the Tokyo Dome.
Both the song “Aku no Hana” and the album with the same name were number one on their own charts in 1990. For more than 30 years, Buck-Tick’s records have continued to do well; almost all of them have made it to the top ten on the Oricon chart. This includes Izora their twenty-third studio record and the last one they made with Sakurai.
In 2004, he made his playing debut in Ryuhei Kitamura’s short film Longinus, which was also his acting debut. In 2004, he put out a book of his poetry and songs called Yasou. Sakurai helped with Chiaki Kuriyama’s first record, Circus.
In 2015, he said that he was starting a second solo project: a band called the Mortal. Jake Cloudchair played guitar, Yukio Murata (My Way My Love) played guitar, Ken Miyo (M-Age) played bass and Takahito Akiyama (Downy) played drums.
Spirit, their mini record came out on October 14 and in November, they went on a three-date tour. On November 11, 2015, the full-length record “I am Mortal” came out.
Sakurai told the story of the cartoon movie Neko Ki Kaku, which came out in 2018. The song “Kakeochi-mono” is a duet that he sang with Ringo Sheena on her 2019 album Sandokushi.
