The news that baseball great Tim Wakefield had been diagnosed with brain cancer devastated the sport in 2023. Many were surprised to learn that Stacy Stover, his wife, also has pancreatic cancer. On October 1st, at the age of 57, the beloved former Boston Red Sox pitcher passed away due to his illness.
Even though Stacy is a strong survivor, the news is devastating because of her history with cancer. A further degree of difficulty was added to the couple’s case when their ordeal and desire for seclusion were made public without their consent.
Is Tim Wakefield’s Wife Battling From Cancer?
After a courageous battle with brain cancer, former Boston Red Sox knuckleballer Tim Wakefield has passed away. He was 57. Wakefield left behind a wife, Stacey, and two children, Trevor and Brianna.
The Boston Red Sox released a statement after learning of his passing, reading in part:
“Wake embodied true goodness; a devoted husband, father, and teammate, beloved broadcaster, and the ultimate community leader. He gave so much to the game and all of Red Sox Nation. Our deepest love and thoughts are with Stacy, Trevor, Brianna, and the Wakefield family.”

In the year 2000, Tim Wakefield and Stacy crossed paths. A year after they first met, on November 9, 2001, they tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony. They’ve raised a pair of kids together. Trevor, the couple’s son, was born in 2004. In 2005, the couple welcomed a baby girl named Brianna.
Stacy like to keep to herself. She has been heavily involved in the Franciscan Hospital for Children’s Wakefield Warriors’ efforts. Stacy supposedly suffers from pancreatic cancer as well. This was recently discussed in a conversation with American broadcaster Curt Schilling.

Tim Wakefield of the Boston Red Sox is Dead, Leaving Behind his Wife Stacy and Two Kids
Trevor and Brianna Wakefield, Tim and Stacy’s children, are the ones who will miss him the most. The two started dating after meeting in the year 2000. On November 9, 2002, they tied the knot. Both Trevor and Brianna were born in the year 2005.
Stacy Wakefield is continuing her late husband’s charity work. She collaborated extensively with the Wakefield Warriors, a group that provides aid to kids in the Franciscan Children’s Hospital. Her philanthropic zeal is reminiscent of Wakefield’s own career and retirement dedication to charity.
Wakefield was a man who cared passionately about others off the field as much as on it. To support a non-profit therapeutic preschool program for children with severe difficulties, he sponsored an annual auction and celebrity golf event. In addition to his work with the Jimmy Fund, he was the esteemed chairman of the Red Sox Foundation.
Wakefield’s passing is a loss not only to baseball but also to the many charitable organizations he championed. His legacy honors his dedication to baseball, to his hometown, and, most of all, to his family.
