Lala Bop is the newest internet lingo that has taken off on TikTok. But just what does this insult mean? Everything you need to know is listed here. Video descriptions, DMs, subtitles, and hashtags on TikTok are full of acronyms and slang phrases that have grown up on the platform.
Some of these phrases can be productive and inclusive, while others, such as the ‘d-slur’ and the infamous acronym RCTA, can be detrimental, toxic, and even harmful.
Unfortunately, ‘Lala Bop,’ the latest ugly lingo to become viral on TikTok for all the wrong reasons, has sparked a contentious trend of revealing people’s private lives, especially their s*xual activities, without their knowledge or agreement. It’s all laid out here for you.
When did TikTok Start Featuring Lala Bop Videos?
After @n3_diorr’s video with the “Lalabop” music went viral in December 2022, TikTokers started using the original sound for the video. Some TikTokers started using it to mock Lala bops, while others used it to parody dance and lip dub fads. Some even go so far as to tag their friends, classmates, and fellow TikTokers in their videos.
In August 2023, a flurry of Lala bop accounts devoted to discussing the purported causes of Lala bops sprang off on the app. As people began calling others out for supposed bad behaviour that had nothing to do with being a lala bop, the definition of the term began to loosen.
Some TikTokers have reacted negatively to the lala bop craze because they believe it is harsh that individuals are publicly disclosing personal information about others. Many people are also arguing that the videos are completely fabricated and that users are exaggerating the effects of the alleged Lala bops in order to damage their own lives. Videos mocking and criticising the fad have been uploaded, in which made-up characters are accused of being lala bops.
Now, people who use TikTok are condemning those who take part in the trend for things like invasion of privacy, sl*t-shaming, and facilitating online abuse of minors. The user who shared the video with the comment:
“You are f**king cruel to think somebody deserves to be posted to this foul trend,” said it best.
“Y’all posting minors, little kids, or anybody is not funny or cool.”
The third user said:
“I don’t even know where to start when I say how DISGUSTING the Lala Bop trend is. This is being done with children. Your actions constitute bullying.”

What Is Lala Bop?
In late 2022, the term “lala bop” emerged as a popular internet slang phrase. Not much is known about its beginnings, although it appears to have gained popularity sometime around November 2022, when TikToker @n3_diorr uploaded a video clip of the song “Lalabop” on the app. The line is used numerous times during the song.
The word was initially coined by an Urban Dictionary user later that year. According to this description, a lala bop is someone who frequently changes romantic partners. The phrase has a pejorative meaning in common usage. To know more details like this you can join us on our Twitter account.
