Jennifer Biggs, a longtime restaurant and food reviewer in Memphis passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Her daughter “Megan Brroks Biggs” confirmed the news of her death by sharing a Facebook post.
She said, “I’m heartbroken to say this. It’s hard and it feels like make-believe. My mother, Jennifer Biggs, died.”

According to Jennifer Biggs ‘ daughter, the memorial services will take place at Memorial Park on Poplar Avenue on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. At 9 am, there will be visitation. At 10 a.m., her memorial ceremony will begin.
In 1991, Jennifer Biggs started working at The Commercial Appeal. She reported about the Somerville property scam, a Tallahatchie County wife murder and “Pinocchio” at Circuit Playhouse. Biggs spent 11 years writing about food and serving as food editor at The Commercial Appeal.
Then, she worked as the food and dining reporter at “The Daily Memphian”. She promoted Memphis food culture as a shared experience and as a source of pride and identity through her columns, reviews, recipes, planned public luncheons, podcasts and frequent radio appearances and on various sports/talk programs.
She was tireless, joyous, prolific (she wrote thousands of tales), ceaselessly peppy (albeit frequently sarcastic) and occasionally even slappy giving true heart to what media outlets refer to as “the food beat.”
Her slogan may have been “Bon appetit!” — a genuine wish that you, her reader or visitor would appreciate this world as much as she did.

What is Jennifer Biggs’ Cause of Death?
Jennifer Biggs passed away after a fight with colon cancer. On her Facebook page, Biggs publicly announced her cancer diagnosis and treatment plan which includes surgery and chemotherapy.
Biggs, who spent a significant portion of her career at The Commercial Appeal before joining “The Daily Memphian” was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and it quickly spread to her liver. Before her death, She wrote about her condition in a Facebook post:
