Some viewers of Solar Opposites have expressed confusion over the decision to cast a new voice actor to portray Korvo in the show’s fourth season. In 2020, the anarchic comedy series Solar Opposites debuted. Despite having Justin Roiland, the voice actor from Rick and Morty, as a co-creator, the show is not a carbon copy of the Adult Swim smash hit.
Solar Opposites, available on Hulu, is a lighter, sillier alternative to Rick and Morty. Solar Opposites is equally as R-rated as Rick and Morty, thanks to its penchant for foul language and gross-out violence for jokes, but it contains less serious episodes and a lighter comedic style.
If you’ve been watching Solar Opposites, you might have noticed that Roiland isn’t the voice of one of the show’s key characters, Korvo, in season 4. The first trailer for season 4 of Solar Opposites consisted of the season premiere’s cold open and it mocked Korvo’s voice change.
Here, Korvo has a dart stuck in his neck from his friend Terry. Because of this, Yumyulack, a star who backs the Solar Opposites, uses a vocal repair ray on Korvo, turning his distinctive squawk into a silky British tenor. The characters then joked that no one would even notice the difference, further mocking the alteration. Do you know why did Korvos Voice change? Know all details below:
The New Voice Actor for Korvo in Season 4 of Solar Opposites
Season 4 of Solar Opposites features Dan Stevens providing the voice of the series’ main character, Korvo. Former alien voice actor Justin was one of the show’s creators. Dan, a 40-year-old British actor, is a household name thanks to his extensive film and television career.
In Downton Abbey, he rose to prominence as Matthew Crawley, but he has also appeared on Gaslit as John Dean and Legion as David Haller. He has provided his voice for such animated works as The Prince as Prince Charles/Philip, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts as Scarlemagne/Hugo, and The Sea Beast as Admiral Hornagold.

Why Should Dan Stevens Replace Justin Roiland?
From what we’ve seen of Dan Stevens in the exclusive footage published so far, he’s a great fit as Korvo’s replacement in season 4 of Solar Opposites. In contrast to Roiland’s nervous, frightened interpretation of Korvo, Stevens’ smug self-importance makes the character lot easier to laugh at.
Take a look at the below tweet about Dan Stevens giving his voice in Solar Opposites Season 4:
Started watching Solar Opposites season 4 last night. Even with a new lead voice performance by Dan Stevens, the series still has the magic! I hope it keeps going for the long haul on Hulu! pic.twitter.com/CY8vRtSJXG

In contrast to Roiland’s performance, in which Korvo was nearly inaudible from Rick in Rick and Morty, Stevens gives Korvo an unwarranted seriousness that the show repeatedly undercuts. Therefore, the new voice actor for Korvo in Solar Opposites Season 4 is a great improvement.
Why did They Recast Korvo?
Due to legal concerns with Korvo’s original voice actor, Justin Roiland, Solar Opposites recast the role. In January 2023, Roiland was accused of domestic violence, and once the news spread, several other accusers came forward with their own accounts of the actor’s inappropriate behaviour.
Season 7 of Rick and Morty likewise featured a replacement for Roiland however that show handled the transition in a different way. Season 4 of Solar Opposites features the lighter, sillier tone described above, allowing the show to poke fun at the shift in its fourth-wall-breaking opening. In contrast, in season 7 of Rick and Morty, Roiland will be replaced with soundalikes.
While Solar Opposites hasn’t always enjoyed the same critical praise or widespread fan base as Rick and Morty, the show’s cruder humor can be helpful in serious situations. Solar Opposites may not have as many heartfelt moments as Rick and Morty, but the series’ lighter, sillier tone masks Roiland’s absence in the most recent episode.
It remains to be seen if Rick and Morty season 7 will cover up Roiland’s replacement as effectively as Solar Opposites season 4. Still, fans of the Hulu comedy will be relieved to learn that, despite certain personnel changes, the show’s tone has remained the same. For more updates, you can be with us on our Twitter account.
