In the 1981 movie “Carbon Copy,” he played the son of a wealthy white businessman who finds out he has a mixed-race son. This was his first role in Hollywood. Even though reviews of the movie were mixed, Denzel’s acting was praised, and it was the start of his successful career in Hollywood.
