Snoop Dogg has given money to a 93-year-old woman so that she can continue her quest to keep land in her family that has been there since the Civil War. Bailey Point Investing LLC has filed a lawsuit against Josephine Wright over the land they intend to build on.
Wright and her husband retired from their employment in New York City and have been living at their Hilton Head, South Carolina, home for the past 30 years. Her 16 children, 40 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren often pay her and her “sanctuary” a visit despite the loss of her husband in 1998.
After more than 150 years of ownership, Wright’s home and sanctuary are threatened by real estate developers. After purchasing the 1.8-acre plot in 2014, Bailey Point Investment now has land on all four sides.
Wright claims that the firm wanted to purchase her home for $39,000 in order to build a 147-home development in the neighborhood. The great-great-grandmother is fighting in court against having to sell her property. Donations to a GoFundMe set up to help Wright pay for her legal bills have topped $272,000.
Snoop Dogg shared a post on his Instagram regarding donations:
