El Nuevo Dia, a Puerto Rican newspaper, says that the couple met at a tennis camp in Atlanta 15 years ago (Rakitt is from Georgia) and started dating two years ago. Before they got back together, Puig was ranked 27th in the world and won the gold title at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

From 2012 to 2016, Rakitt played tennis at Georgia Tech in NCAA Division I. His LinkedIn page says that he works as a product manager for Capital One. The wedding occurred by the water at the Caribe Hilton Hotel in San Juan. Even though it was cloudy, nature smiled at the couple by putting two rainbows in the grey sky.
Puig wore a dress with tiered fringe that Harry Robles created. The night before, she wore a simple strapless mini dress with a floor-length bow around her waist. She showed a Puerto Rico magazine a sneak peek of the celebration, decorated in a modern boho-glam style.
