In The Witcher’s universe, appearances can be deceiving. The White Flame, Ciri’s greatest nemesis in the fight to keep her safe, is a moniker that keeps popping up without much backstory. Their identity is revealed at the end of the season 2 finale, which is a major storyline point.
The future of Ciri (Freya Allan), Geralt (Henry Cavill), and Yennefer (Anna Chalotra) hinges on the White Flame’s plans, which remain hidden from the audience. Even though Ciri’s foes are closing in on her from every side, the White Flame is still the greatest threat she faces.
Who are they, though, and how have they impacted Season 3 thus far? Everything you wanted to know about the White Flame, the menacing villain of The Witcher, is right here.
Who is The White Flame From Witcher Season 3?
By the end of season 2, it’s clear that Duny (Bart Edwards), once known as Emhyr var Emreis, is the White Flame. The fact that he is Ciri’s father, who was briefly revealed in season one through flashbacks, is shocking.
From the beginning of the series until the season 2 conclusion, viewers are given every reason to assume that both of Ciri’s parents are dead. Duny’s original goal in the books was to marry Ciri before revealing his true identity as Emperor of Nilfgaard. His transformation into a humanoid hedgehog was reversed when he fell in love with Ciri’s mother Pavetta (Gaia Mondadori).
After hearing the Ithlinne prophecy from Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu), Duny successfully deposes the Usurper.
Since Duny promised he’d never break The Witcher’s Law of Surprise, the audience can assume his feelings for Pavetta are genuine. However, his plans for his daughter Ciri are still veiled in mystery, although he will likely be strongly motivated by the Elder Blood in her veins.

In Which Location Does Season 3’s White Flame Make its Debut?
The White Flame has been mostly mentioned in passing during season 3, rather than showing on screen. Cahir, an intelligence officer played by Eamon Farren, is one of several people advocating for Duny after he was incarcerated.
To date, Duny has made two physical appearances in season 3. The first was towards the end of the premiere episode. He is depicted destroying a number of paintings, presumably of himself and his ancestors, and the kingdom as a whole, with the exception of a young Princess Ciri.
Midway through episode 3, he makes another appearance and manipulates Cahir into bringing down Gallatin (Robbie Amell) on his behalf so that he can win over the elves. There has been a lot happening in the first five episodes, but Duny’s intentions haven’t come to fulfillment just yet. Cahir appears to be working independently of the others as they all make concerted efforts to find Ciri.
