According to a tweet from his spouse, journalist Glenn Greenwald, David Miranda, a Brazilian politician, has pἀssed away after a nine-month battle in intensive care. His age was 37 years.
Greenwald, who raised two adopted sons with Miranda wrote on Twitter –
“It is with the most profound sadness that I announce the pἀssing away of my husband @DavidMirandaRio. He would have turned 38 tomorrow. His deἀth, early this morning, came after a 9-month battle in ICU. He dἰed in full peace, surrounded by our children and family and friends.”
Miranda was one of Rio de Janeiro’s first openly gἀy city council members, and he went on to serve in Brazil’s house beginning in 2019. CNN says that Miranda dropped out of the race for re-election in September 2022 after spending six weeks in the ICU with a stomach ἰnfection.

David Michael dos Santos Miranda was a politician in Brazil. He was born on May 10, 1985. He was a Federal Congressman for the state of Rio de Janeiro from 2019 to 2023.
In 2022, he switched parties from the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL) to the Democratic Labour Party (PDT). Before that, he was a member of the City Council for Rio de Janeiro. Time magazine named Miranda one of the world’s next group of leaders in 2019.
