Queen Elizabeth II and William’s late mother Diana, the previous Princess of Wales were two significant persons who were not there during the coronation of King Charles III on Saturday, May 6, 2023, but Catherine, the Princess of Wales found a way to honor them.
According to Vogue, the princess donned the George VI Festoon Necklace. Due to its connections to the late Queen Elizabeth II and her father, King George, the three-strand diamond necklace is noteworthy. In 1950, the king ordered the necklace for his daughter.
The magnificent diamonds have been seen on Queen Elizabeth II multiple times, notably at a meal with former President George W. Bush at the White House in 2007. The princess frequently wears jewelry in memory of her late mother-in-law, Diana, who pἀssed away in 1997.
She donned a pair of Diana’s pearl and diamond stud earrings. The earrings have already been seen on camera multiple times with Catherine.
William said at the time:
“Prince William used Diana’s 18-carat blue sapphire and white diamond engagement ring when he asked Catherine to marry him. I did this to make sure my mother wasn’t left out of today’s activities.”
The princess honored the queen by donning a brooch that had previously been captured in photographs while attending events for her fμneral. In fact, she wore it to Seoul in 1999 for her 73rd birthday. On a 2017 trip to Belgium, Catherine was again seen wearing the brooch.
As a tribute to Queen Elizabeth, who frequently wore pearls, Queen Camilla has also honored the queen at occasions like her fμneral by donning them.
Catherine chose an Alexander McQueen headpiece created in conjunction with milliner Jess Collett for the coronation rather than a royal tiara. Alexander McQueen also designed her dress. At her wedding in 2011, Catherine wore an Alexander McQueen gown.
