Hoover worked as a neurosurgeon at Detroit’s Ascension St. John Hospital for nearly 20 years after graduating from medical school at Indiana University and finishing his residency at Henry Ford Hospital. Over the weekend, a neurosurgeon from Michigan was discovered deἀd in his affluent Detroit neighborhood house.
The hospital system issued a statement mourning the loss of the physician:
“Devon Hoover, MD was a dedicated and well-respected member of the Ascension Michigan family and will be greatly missed by our community, Our sincerest condolences and heartfelt prayers are with his family, friends and fellow associates during this incredibly difficult time.”
On Sunday, April 23, 2023 that Dr. Devon Hoover was found deἀd at his home on West Boston Boulevard in the city’s historic Boston-Edison District. Reports said that police discovered Hoover deἀd from a gunsh0t w0und during a wellness check.
Sources reported that Detroit police found Dr. Devon Hoover’s b0dy wrapped in a sheet in the attic’s crawl space. The station stated that he had been sh0t once in the head. Hoover’s loved ones were worried, so police visited his home which neighbors had described as “a museum-like gem.”
His vehicle was later discovered abandoned on the western side of the city, the police added. According to CBS News‘ reporting, authorities have speculated that the incἰdent may have domestἰc overtones. No one knows how long Hoover had been deἀd before his body was found.
On social media, Hoover’s shocked friends remembered him as a friendly neighbor and skilled doctor. Paddy Lynch, a neighbor, just posted on Facebook:
“He was a loving son and brother, a brilliant, accomplished surgeon, an unrivaled collector and caretaker of all things beautiful and a champion of art and culture. Hospitality was certainly his specialty as he never hesitated to open his spectacular home to countless neighbors, friends and charitable organizations. For a man small in stature, he was indeed larger than life.”

The Boston-Edison area in Hoover is well-known for the large, historic mansions found there. The Detroit News reported that Hoover paid $750,000 in 2007 to purchase his prestigious address from Wayne County.
According to Hoover’s neighbor, Johnathan Shearrod, who lives nearby, the place is always spotless. He reflected on the past year, noticing that Hoover had finally built his ideal greenhouse.
“He’s an anchor of the block, extremely involved in the neighborhood. He’s just a wonderful person. I mean, the home looks amazing because he was an ardent preservationist, restorationist.”
In a similar statement, Ascension Healthcare referred to Hoover as a well-respected employee. They said in the note:
“Our sincerest condolence and heartfelt prayers are with his family, friends and fellow associates during this incredibly difficult time.”
