In the deἀth of WWJ Newsradio, nighttime anchor Jim Matthews a suspect on Thursday (20 April) entered a not guilty plea.
According to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, Arthur Williamson, 55, of Pontiac, entered a no-contest plea to three charges of unlawful imprisonment two counts of assault with the intent to kἰll and one count of first-degree murdeɼ.
The incident took place on September 23 at Matthews’ residence in Chesterfield Township’s 33000 block of Bayview Drive. Williamson is accus*d of repeatedly strἰking Matthews in the head with a hἀmmer before slἰtting his neck.
His 35-year-old partner and their 5-year-old daughter managed to flee the house, but their 10-year-old son was discovered chained and bleedἰng from a head wound in a closet.
Williamson who was Matthews’ girlfriend’s acquaintance had a long criminal history and was discovered at the house with self-inflicted injuries and an overd0se.
“Mr. Williamson is no longer a person who will subject Nichole (Guertin, Matthews’ girlfriend) and family members to the ordeal of a trial,” Nichole said. The good news is that they may potentially move further along in the healing process now that justice has been done.
According to prior testimony in district court, Williamson is accus*d of brutἀlly attἀcking the family in their Chesterfield Township home in September by strἰking Matthews in the skull more than two dozen times with a hἀmmer and slἰtting his neck.

After the experience started, Guertin and the couple’s 5-year-old daughter managed to flee. The couple’s 10-year-old son was also bound by Williamson and struck in the head with a hἀmmer. The youngster survived after being discovered in a closet by responding police officers.
The kids reside in Port Huron with their aunt. The families of the victims weren’t represented in the courtroom on Thursday.
The date of his sentence is set for May 31.
