As of Wednesday morning (12 April), it’s possible that some people living in Jo Daviess County, which is in the state of Illinois, won’t be able to dial 911.
According to wqad.com, Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office told News 8 in a statement that an emergency phone number could be down due to a phone network failure. Because of this difficulty, it’s possible that calls won’t be able to get through to the Galena 911 contact center.
According to the sheriff’s office, this problem affects people with the 747 area code in East Dubuque. It is still unknown how long the power outage will remain, as well as whether or not residents in other regions of the county will be affected.
For now, people can reach the sheriff’s office by calling 815-777-2141. If people need help, they can also call the police or fire services in their towns.
