Former Mexican telenovela star Andrés García has passed away. He was 81.
“With a pain that I did not know I could feel in my soul, I want to inform the public that always followed and loved my husband, family and friends, as well as the media, that my husband, Andrés García, the love of my loves, is resting beside our Lord Jesus,” his widow Margarita Portillo shared on Instagram.
Since Andrés García illness began, Portillo has been his primary caregiver at their Acapulco residence. Since her husband’s “body was too weak,” Portillo revealed on Sunday 2 April, that he had needed a blood transfusion. The widow of García also confirmed that he had his last rites on Monday 3 April.
She said, “I was by his side taking care of him and loving him until he took his last breath.” He passed away quietly and for that, I am grateful to God. At 3:07 p.m., Andrés left Earth for good.
Hepatic cirrhosis, a severe scarring of the liver, was the direct cause of dea†h.

Andrés García was born in the Dominican Republic but later became a naturalized Mexican citizen. He sh0t to fame after playing the lead role in a big-screen rendition of the Chanoc comic. Many other films, including La noche del halcón, Las tres magnificas, Minifaldas con espuelas, and El cinico, featured Garca in starring roles.

At the turn of the century, he was seen in Mujeres engañadas (2000) on Univision and El Cuerpo del Deseo (2000) on Telemundo (2005). Returning to Televisa in 2007, he starred in the series El Pantera; his final acting credit was for an episode of Hay alguien ahí in 2010.
