The chief has warned that additional research, including toxicological testing, is necessary before a formal autopsy report can be released. He also said that the final autopsy report on Millard’s death was awaited.
Millard, a 42-year-old father of five, was discovered dead at 3:30 a.m. on March 6 near Scenic Drive in Baton Rouge, according to local authorities. The horribly decomposed remains were discovered by a pedestrian in a vacant lot, rolled up in a carpet and wrapped in plastic.
Baton Rouge Police Captain Kevin Heinz said:
“It does appear that he was left there, that that’s most likely not where he died. I don’t want to go into details on our investigative efforts, but efforts are underway to locate and to talk to whoever may have put him there”.
The Covington, Ga., man’s relatives told that they believe he “likely died of an accidental overdose.” On the subject of drug use in Millard’s death, Heinz remained silent during the press conference.
Heinz said:
“We will ask whoever put him there if something happened, if there was a moment of panic, come forward. We just want to know what happened to him”.
On Tuesday, March 7, 2023 Heinz described what investigators believe was Millard’s dying moments. According to Heinz, surveillance footage reveals that after Millard left the bar that night, he made his way to a Greyhound bus station. A security guard he talked to at the bus stop offered to call him a ride, but Millard politely declined.
Heinz claimed that Millard did not appear to be in distress and left of his own volition. Heinz noted that the last time Millard appeared on surveillance footage was at 4:30 a.m. on February 23. It has been confirmed that he did not return to his Courtyard Marriott hotel.
The client with whom Millard supposedly spent time at the bar sought a welfare check the next morning when Millard failed to show up for a scheduled meeting. Millard’s phone and wallet were recovered and dumped several streets away from his hotel, Texas EquuSearch claimed in the statement.
As per reports, TV’s Amber Millard’s last known contact with her husband was a video conversation made earlier in the day when he was at a college basketball tournament with a client. “It’s a nightmare that I want to wake up from,” she reportedly remarked.
