One-Punch Man is a Japanese anime television show which is adapted from the manga series of the same name written by ONE. Madhouse picked it up for animation and the first season of the anime aired on October 5, 2015, and ended on December 21, 2015, on TV Tokyo in Japan with a total of 12 episodes.
The series was directed by Shingo Natsume and written by Tomohiro Suzuki. It was later made available to stream on other networks as well like BS Japan, AT-X, and others.
Viz Media licensed it in North America, Latin America, and Oceania and Madman Entertainment licensed it in Australia and New Zealand.
The series was well-received by the audiences and received positive reviews from critics as well, it has an IMDB rating of 8.8 out of 10.
After the successful first season, the series was renewed for a second season in September 2016 and after a year the announcement came out that the series will change its director and production company. J.C.Staff animated the second season and it was directed by Chikara Sakurai.
The second season aired on April 9, 2019, and ended on July 2, 2019, with a total of 12 episodes and has a runtime of 24 minutes each episode.
After the second season, fans have been curiously waiting to know about the series’ renewal for a third season, and here’s what we know so far about it.
Is One Punch Man Renewed for Season 3?
It has been almost 3 years since the premiere of the second season of One Punch Man and there is no confirmation either from the production company or from the creators about the renewal of the show for season 3.
If we take a dig into the release pattern of the show, the second season took almost more than two years to come out after the announcement of renewal but after its premiere, nothing has been uttered about the third season and it has been neither denied as well. So, we will have to wait until their confirmation.
If we look into the source material, then plenty of it is available to develop the third season since the first season covered 1 to 8 volumes whereas the second season covered volumes 9 to 16 and the manga has a total of 24 volumes as of now so it has plenty of source materials to cover in Season 3.
One Punch Man Season 3 Release Date
If we assume that the series’ third season is under development as of now, then we can expect it to kick off by early next year. We hope this becomes true and cheers up the anime lovers.
