Officials in Georgia say they have arrested a former police officer on charges of covering up the death of a missing 16-year-old girl.
Gwinnett County Police claimed that 22-year-old former Doraville police officer Miles Bryant was charged with covering up the death of another person and filing a false report of a crime. Susana Morales, the young girl who went missing in July, was found last week.
Gwinnett PD is looking into the matter, but they have informed their counterparts in Doraville. Bryant is currently being held without bond at the Gwinnett Detention Center. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday morning as per reports on Fox News.com.
Doraville, Georgia issued a statement on Monday saying it has learned of Bryant’s accusations. Last Monday, the human remains were positively identified as Morales by the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s office. Her loved ones reported her missing in late July.
As Morales’ loved ones hadn’t heard from her since July 26, they contacted the authorities. They say that at 9:40 p.m., Morales contacted her mother to let her know that she was on her way to their house on Windscape Village Lane in Norcross.
Officials claimed a cell phone app showed Morales was moving in that way between 10:07 and 10:21 p.m. However, detectives have stated that they believe she may have boarded a car instead.

Investigators say she used her phone between 10:21 and 10:26 p.m. before it died or was switched off in the area of Oak Loch Trace and Steve Reynolds Boulevard. Sadly, Morales never came back to his family.
On the evening of February 6th, someone reported seeing in the woods what they believed to be human remains. The region is located between Drowning Creek and Barrow County. The DNA found in the bones was a match with Morales’ dental records, according to the Gwinnett Medical Examiners’ office.
