The NFL Network’s James Palmer said on Wednesday that Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones stated he and several teammates are feeling sick in the days leading up to Sunday’s (February 8) Super Bowl LVII battle against the Philadelphia Eagles.
“According to Chris Jones, who informed me of his condition, he is feeling ill. Symptoms such as stuffiness, a sore throat, “Palmer sent a tweet. “However, he assured everyone that everything would be okay. It appeared that some #chiefs players were fighting off some sort of illness today.”
Jones, probably the Chiefs’ most valuable defensive player, will be one of the team’s six captains at Super Bowl LVII. The 28-year-old just finished a year in which he set personal bests in tackles (44) and sacks (15.5) while also setting new marks for QB hits (9) and total tackles (99).
Chris Jones told me he’s under the weather. Congestion, sore throat. But said he’ll be fine. Seemed like a few #chiefs players were battling a little something today.

Chris Jones hasn’t been feeling well. We’ll see today if that’s changed. But no matter what, he’s so important to this #chiefs defense on Sunday. He’ll line up all over the DL. My report on @gmfb pic.twitter.com/nsLEIQaw6F

Jones did not specify which players other were feeling under the weather.

It was noted by Chiefs Heavy on Sports reporter Devon Clements that quarterback and MVP nominee Patrick Mahomes “sounded like” he had “the sniffles” while speaking to reporters on Tuesday (February 7), but there was no confirmation that Mahomes was battling with any form of illness.
Sounds like #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has the sniffles.

However, head coach Andy Reid told USA TODAY Sports that the quarterback is “doing pretty well” after sustaining a high ankle sprain in last month’s AFC Divisional Round victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Chiefs are going for their third Super Bowl victory overall, and their second in four years after their victory in Super Bowl LIV in February 2020. After their first championship in Super Bowl LII in February 2018, the Eagles will compete for their second title.
