Goldberg, who was 65 at the time, seemed to be in high spirits despite the difficult experience she had. She responded by saying, “Yes, it’s me, I’m back.” “My absence was necessary since I was struggling with a condition known as sciatica.
Sciatica is caused by a herniated disc in the back, which presses on the sciatic nerve and causes pain to go down the leg. I’m telling you, it’s like having a horrible boyfriend… a bad boyfriend that came back to screw with me. I’m telling you this because it’s true.”
She went on by saying, “There I was, attempting to move my leg, which was difficult to accomplish.” “It was a very dreadful experience. On the other hand, I’m happy to be here.” Goldberg stated that she is unable to move about without the use of a walker at this time.
“I have a walker, which sort of frightened me out,” she admitted. “It’s really a little embarrassing.” “I was unaware that it was something I required. And, you are aware of what?
This is my very first step with the walker, and it is quickly becoming my new best buddy. I’m just gliding along. Consequently, this is what transpired with me. It appears to have appeared out of nowhere, as I’ve been told.”
Joy Behar, who co-hosts the show with Whoopi Goldberg, mentioned that she suffered from sciatica when she was younger and that it is tied to stress. Behar cautioned Goldberg to be careful but said that she appeared to have had a good night’s sleep. Goldberg has just relocated back to her home, where she has been filming the show continuously since March of last year.
Goldberg responded with a chuckle and a smile, “Well, what can you do, I’m resting in a hospital room.” “I’ve become this frail and elderly African-American woman. It’s rather odd to say the least.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, sciatica is most frequently brought on by the compression of a portion of the nerve that is caused by a herniated disc, a bone spur on the spine, or a narrowing of the spine. This results in inflammation, discomfort, and frequently a degree of numbness in the limb that is afflicted.
The majority of instances may be resolved in a matter of weeks with non-operative therapy, despite the fact that the pain can be severe.
Goldberg has been absent from “The View” on many occasions for reasons related to his health. In 2019, she had to miss more than a month of the program owing to her struggle with pneumonia, and she has stated that she came dangerously close to passing away.
She explained to others watching the video that she had pneumonia and that I was septic. “Pneumonia in both lungs, which meant there was fluid and all kinds of other stuff going on, and yeah, I came incredibly, frighteningly close to emigrating from this planet. Good news? I didn’t.”
