Brief About the Show
The world can seem like a quiet dark and scary place these days. But if there is one TV show that seems to be able to unanimously pull us all out of our pandemic-ridden state, even if temporarily, it is the much famous Apple TV+ series, Ted Lasso.
Jason Sudeikis shows the titular character to life as the adorable head coach of a British football team whose lack of experience is more than framed by his never-ending buoyancy and zeal.
The rest of the cast is equally skilled, which gives this show enough heart, facial hair, and biscuit-eating to make even the most intense sports hate a superfan. And since it has now been an ample amount of time since Season 2 aired back in July, it is only natural to start thinking about when Ted Lasso Season 3 will release on our television screens.
Since the show was first released in 2020, Ted Lasso has gone on to lead in the awards realm, getting a massive 20 Primetime Emmy nominations in 2021 and breaking the record set by Glee as the most Emmy nominated freshman comedy in TV history.
The show won in the genres of Outstanding Comedy, Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, and Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. That said, the show is adored both by fans and critics alike, which makes its obvious return all the more pressing.
But how much more will the fans have to wait for Ted Lasso’s third season? Here is everything you need to know.
When Is the Ted Lasso Season 3 Release Date?
At this point in time, there is no particular release date for season 3. But the positive news is that production is already going on. Brendan Hunt, who plays as an actor as well as is a creator of the show, posted a picture on Instagram of him and Sudeikis getting prepared to board a plane together on Jan.
4 with a caption reading “Here we go”. Obviously, they could have just been going on a vacation together, but the most probable outcome from this picture is that they were off to commence shooting for the third season.
But just in case you need a bit more proof than that, Kola Bokinni, who portrays the role of Isaac on the show, has since posted many pictures on Twitter of himself and fellow cast members.
Having said that, there is a slight possibility that Ted Lasso’s comeback will take place a little later in the year than the initial two seasons, which both were released during summer.
Hunt recently shared with TVLine that Season 3 is undergoing an obvious postponement because of a “football wrinkle” that is getting them slightly off their schedule. Hunt explained to the site that they are certainly starting later this year than in Season 2. So he would be surprised if their release dates would be the same.
That is above his pay grade, he is uncertain but does understand the restrictions of time, and he said that it seems pretty unlikely that they would release the show early this year. But in spite of the hitch, Hunt believes that shooting should start by the end of February and they are just trying to set it right.
He also told The Daily Mail that the production is supposed to end in July. So don’t worry – a 2022 release date is still possible, but it may just happen in the fall or winter instead of summer.

How Many Episodes of Season 3 Will Be There?
Provided that Ted Lasso episodes tend to be of shorter duration, it is also a good idea to know how many episodes of adorable content you will have when Season 3 is out.
Fortunately, it will prove to be well worth the wait. Sudeikis assured the number of episodes backstage of the 2021 Emmys, stating that there would be 12 episodes.
Who Will Be Returning?
As of now, it seems like all of the chief characters will return for the third season, including Sudeikis who portrays Ted Lasso, Hannah Waddingham portraying Rebecca Welton, Brett Goldstein playing the role of Roy Kent, Hunt who is Coach Beard, Juno Temple playing Keeley Jones, Phil Dunster who portrays Jamie Tartt, Toheeb Jimoh playing Sam Obisanya and Nick Mohammed portraying Nate Shelley.
On top of that, the series showrunner Bill Lawrence in October 2021 revealed to Deadline that Sarah Niles, who is the team’s previous therapist, Dr. Sharon Fieldstone, and James Lance who plays Trent Crimm, former sports reporter for The Independent will both have really important roles in the upcoming series.
What Will Season 3 Be About?
At this time, there are not a lot of details floating about the third season. But the actors of the show have given viewers some fun storylines to expect – including the future of Sam and Rebecca’s relationship. John told Entertainment Tonight in January 2022 that he will fight for it obviously. But wherever the plot would go, it would go.
Since they are so close, they have amazing chemistry, but also if it is a friendship and platonic too then that’s also great.
Will Season 3 Be Ted Lasso’s Swan Song?
Listen, this is TV, plot twists can and should be anticipated. But in total revelation, the makers have hinted that Ted Lasso could very well finish with Season 3. Sudeikis told Entertainment Weekly that the story that is being told, which is a three-season arc, is the one that he understood and is happy that they are paying for those three seasons.
Skins for the Valorant are now available in a new package. Undercity teases a mysterious figure.
But he is uncertain about what happens after that. Hunt agreed, adding that he thinks they have always meant it to be three seasons and it would be cool if, in the face of how much the people love this show, they stick to their guns and actually just do three seasons. For now, you can enjoy the first two seasons of Ted Lasso on Apple TV+.
