Her passing was revealed on the Facebook page of New Christ Memorial Church in California, where she was the Senior Pastor. Kenneth J. Cook, the assistant pastor of the church, released a statement.
“It’s with a heavy heart that I announce that at 12pm today, March 17, 2024, our beloved Senior Pastor Sandra Elaine Crouch transitioned into the arms of the Lord. We as believers know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We will forever cherish the memories and teachings we received from her. Later on, Sandra became a part of Andraé Crouch & The Disciples, where she reached many people with a mix of gospel, rock, folk, jazz, soul and R&B music. Some of their popular songs include “Soon and Very Soon,” “Bless His Holy Name” and “My Tribute (To God Be the Glory).”
Sandra also had success as a solo artist, winning a Grammy Award in 1984 for Best Female Soul Gospel Performance for her album “We Sing Praises.” She was also skilled at playing percussion, often playing tambourine on hits by the Jackson 5 like “I Want You Back” and “ABC.”
