Spencer Tracy, the renowned American actor, passed away on June 10, 1967, at the age of 67 in his Beverly Hills apartment. The cause of his death was a heart attack. Tracy had battled health complications before his death.
From Which Illness Was Spencer Tracy Suffering From?
Tracy’s unhealthy habits, like drinking alcohol, smoking, taking pills and being overweight, made him very sick when he was in his 60s. Tracy was admitted to the hospital on July 21, 1963, after a severe attack of breathlessness.
Medical professionals discovered that he had pulmonary edema, a condition in which fluid builds up in the lungs as a result of the heart’s improper pumping action. They also said that his blood pressure was dangerously high. After that, Tracy was very weak, so Hepburn moved in with him to take care of him all the time.
In January 1965, doctors found out he had a heart disease caused by high blood pressure. Around the same time, he also started treatment for a previously ignored diagnosis of Type II diabetes. Tracy almost passed away in September 1965 as his kidneys failed during a hospital stay after a prostatectomy, leaving him unconscious for the whole night.
His attending physician referred to his recovery the next day as “a kind of miracle”. Tracy spent most of the next two years at home with Hepburn and doing drawing, reading and enjoying music. On June 10, 1967, Tracy awakened at 3:00 am to make himself a cup of tea in his apartment in Beverly Hills, California.
Hepburn entered the room to find Tracy lying dead from a heart attack. Publicist Howard Strickling of MGM informed the media that Tracy was discovered by his maid alone when he passed away.

Where Was Spencer Tracy Buried?
On June 12, a Requiem Mass was held for Tracy at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in East Hollywood. George Cukor, Stanley Kramer, Frank Sinatra, James Stewart and John Ford were among the active pallbearers.
Hepburn refrained from attending Tracy’s funeral out of respect for her family. Tracy is buried next to his wife Louise, son John and daughter Susie in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.
