How Did Heather Slezewski Die?
Heather Arcaro-Slezewski lost her life in a car accident. A 38-year-old man from Green Bay is accused of driving with a suspended license in a crash on Christmas Day that killed his wife and mother and hurt two others.
Philip Slezewski said he was driving north on Interstate 43 from a family Christmas celebration in Chicago when he lost control of his car. The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened when Slezewski’s car hit another car, making both lose control. The women who died were Clarine Slezewski and Heather Arcaro-Slezewski both from Green Bay.
On December 25, 2024, at around 2:25 p.m. first responders were called to Interstate 43 near Fischer Creek Road in Centerville for a report of a crash involving two vehicles.
When Manitowoc County sheriff’s officers arrived, they discovered a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV in the southbound lanes and a Chevrolet Suburban SUV on its roof resting on a pillar supporting the Fischer Creek Road bridge.
When the first cop arrived on the scene, Slezewski was standing next to the Suburban, holding his 3-year-old daughter. He said to the deputy that he attempted to overtake another car and go into the right-hand lane, but he lost control of the Suburban when it was traveling in the left lane, just north of Exit 137.
Since he could not spin it efficiently and the steering had become quite loose, he thought there had been a mechanical breakdown. Slezewski allegedly indicated that his driver’s license “may be suspended” when the officer requested to see it.
The deputy verified that Slezewski’s license was revoked for unpaid citations in September by Manitowoc County and in October by Brown County.
Two passengers in the Tahoe “appeared dazed and confused” and had facial bruises. The unconscious passenger was evacuated to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah, while the driver was sent to Aurora BayCare Health Center in Green Bay.
